Robert Levesque was born in 1642 in Hautot-St-Sulpice, Normandie in France. Son of Pierre Levesque and Marie Gaumont, he married Jeanne Chevalier, widow of Guillaume Le Canteur, on April 22nd 1679, in L’Ange-Gardien. From this union were born 6 children. He arrived in 1674 as a carpenter and settled down in Rivière-Ouelle. In 1681, he owns 4 guns, 11 heads of cattle and 10 acres of land. He died in Rivière-Ouelle on September 11th 1699.

<b> Rene Levesque </b> was born on August 24th 1922 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. He first worked as a journalist and radio and television animator before starting his political career in 1960 as deputy of the Liberal Party of Quebec in Montreal-Laurier. Eight years later, he became president of the new Parti Quebecois. On November 15th 1976, he became Quebec Prime Minister and remained until 1985.
