Son of Jean-Baptiste Laplante and Marguerite Lacoste, he married Marie-Louise Cottret-Descoudrays, daughter of Pierre and Marie-Louise Therrien, on April 12, 1758 in Nicolet. From this union were born 9 children, 4 of whom died before reaching the age of 5. This farmer settled in Nicolet, where he remained until his death on July 26, 1807, 20 days after his death ofhis wife.
