History and origin of the Gosselin family

Gabriel Gosselin was born around 1620 in Combray in Normandie. Son of Nicolas Gosselin and Marguerite Dubréal, he married Françoise Lelièvre, daughter of Christophe Lelièvre and Georgette Clément, in Sillery on August 18, 1653. From their union 9 children were born. Widower, he married Louise Guillot (18 years old), daughter of Geoffroy Guillot and Marie d'Abancourt, in a second marriage, on October 4, 1677 in Sainte-Famille de l'Île d'Orléans. From their union 2 children were born. He was in the country in 1651. He became the richest landowner on Île d'Orléans. He died in July 1697 in Quebec City.
