History and origin of the Freeman family

this is samantha taylor freeman i now the other freeman's do not know me but i'm trying to figer out what my last name means i do not know yet but it would be awsome if you could tell it.

Hi my grandparents were Freeman Dit Auger..men who worked for a company were under duty to work for number of years like being indentured servant's. when they have finished they were called Freeman.In Canada it was for NWC Or HBC.the Dit means from that family.
