Jean Demers-Dumets was baptized on February 9, 1633 in St-Jacques, Dieppe, Seine-Maritime, France. Son of Jean Dumais and Barbe Mauger, he married Jeanne Voidie-Vedie, daughter of Michel and Catherine Borbelle, on November 9, 1654 in Montreal. From this union are born 12 children. Arrived in the country in 1646, accompanied by his father and his 2 brothers, he settles first in Montreal, then on the lordship of Lauzon. He made numerous transactions for the sale and purchase of land and houses, before dying in Quebec City on July 3, 1708.
