François Bergeron was born around 1649 in St-Hilaire-sur-l'Autise, Poitou, Vendée, France. Son of Charles Bergeron and Marie Pernel, he married Etiennette Fleurant-Leclerc, daughter of Florian and Marie Legendre, on November 3rd, 1676 in Trois-Rivières. From this union were born nine children. Arrived in the country in 1665, he was hired as a maid at Côte de Beaupré. He was confirmed at l’Ange-Gardien on March 12th, 1666 and as he become friend with soldiers of the Carignan-Salière regiment, the Sieur de Manereuil granted him a land on the lordship of Rivière-du-Loup, Louiseville. This is where he died, in May 1672.
