POWNAL -- Mrs. Yvette M. DuBois, 90, widow of Harvey E. DuBois, a well known resident of Northwest Hill Road, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.Born in St. Chrysostome, Province of Quebec, Canada, Sept. 10, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Phillippe and Honorina (Bourdon) Allen. She attended schools in Canada and Adams, Mass.Mr. and Mrs. DuBois were married Nov. 27, 1929 in St. Peters Church, Vergennes. Mr. DuBois died Jan. 12, 1990.In earlier years Mrs. DuBois was employed at Brightwater Paper Company and later at Sprague Electric Company in North Adams until the time of her retirement.Mrs. DuBois was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal, and was a founding member of the Ladies Guild at the church.She was a member of the Pownal Senior Citizens Club in Pownal Center and was instrumental in obtaining the use of the Old Pownal Center Schoolhouse as their meeting place. Mrs. DuBois was a former member of the Pownal Fire Department Auxiliary. Her hobbies and interests included flowers, gardening, and painting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.Survivors include a son and daughter, Rene J. DuBois of Prospect, Maine, and Eleanor LaBonte of Pownal; five grandchildren, Rene J. DuBois Jr. of Prospect, Bruce P. DuBois of Red Hook, N.Y., Steven A. LaBonte of Hoosick, N.Y., Marie Baker of Bennington and Andrew P. LaBonte of Milford, N.H.; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorena LeBeau of Adams, Mass.; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. Mrs. DuBois was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Lauria Rose, Eleanor Tourjee, Joseph Allen and Leo Allen.The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, April 25 at 9:15 a.m. with a prayer and from Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal at 10 a.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated.Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The wake service will be offered Thursday at 5:30 p.m.Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal.Charitable contributions in memory of Mrs. DuBois may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
