Rita Tremblay, born in 1914, spouse of Neil-W. -Tremblay Sr, daughter of John and Mary-Catherine, mother of Neil and Barbara R, died on January 30, 2005 at 90 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
BENNINGTON -- Rita J. Tremblay, 90, widow of Neil W. Tremblay Sr. and longtime resident of Lincoln Street, died Sunday morning, Jan. 30, 2005, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.She was born in North Bennington on Feb. 9, 1914 and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Catherine (Scarey) Brillon. She received her education in North Bennington and St. Joseph’s Business College in Bennington. Mr. and Mrs. Tremblay were married at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington on Jan. 4, 1936. Mr. Tremblay died Dec. 7, 1999.In earlier years, Mrs. Tremblay was employed at the EZ Mill, the Allan A Mill and Thomson Manufacturing Co. Later, she was employed at BenMont Paper Company until the time of her retirement.Mrs. Tremblay enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and playing bingo.She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Neil W. and Barbara R. Tremblay of Bennington; three grandchildren, Donna Harrington of Shaftsbury, and Jacqueline Corey and Neil W. Tremblay III, both of Bennington; and one sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and John Reardon of Bennington. Mrs. Tremblay also leaves eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by one sister, Edesse Elwell, and one brother, James Brillon Sr.A prayer service will be held on Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington, followed by a memorial Mass at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Edward Howard, pastor, officiating. Concelebrating at the Mass will be the Rev. Michael DeMasi. Burial will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.A time of refreshment will follow the committal service at the parish hall at St. John the Baptist Church.At Mrs. Tremblay’s request, there will not be any calling hours scheduled.Memorials in her honor may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Vermont Chapter of the American Cancer Society through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
