FREEMAN, Raymond (Ray) Alan With great sadness, we announce the death of Ray (Raymond) Freeman. Born in Tottenham, North London in 1926, he died peacefully on Thursday, 8th April 2009. He volunteered at 17 to join the Royal Navy during WW2 where he saw service with S.E.A.C, mainly Singapore, Sri Lanka and Burma. Upon "demob ", he worked at his true calling ~ as a scale model maker ~ joining the Imperial War Museum in London as the model maker, where much of his work can be seen. In 1974, he accepted an invitation from the Maritime Museum in this city and he and his family came to Canada. Some years later, he retired from the Museum ~ where many more of his fine models can be seen ~ with the title of "Model Maker Emeritus ". In his youth he had represented his school in many sporting activities; in retirement he played lawn bowls, where he was successful in a number of competitions. He also traveled extensively in Canada and the USA and holidayed many places in England, renewing old acquaintances. Ray also volunteered for various concerns and was a proud member of the Burma Star Association. He leaves his loving wife of fifty five years, Peggie, daughters Sally (husband John and sons Richard and Robert) and Glynnis (husband Steven and daughters Nichola and Laura), as well as nieces, nephews and many friends, by whom he will be remembered as a kind, generous and quiet gentlemen. The family would like to thank Dr. Innes and Dr. Argouarch for their care. A service of remembrance will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, followed by refreshments in the Tea Room on Saturday 18th April, 2009 at 1 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ray's name to a charity of your choice. 535693
