Mary M. (MacGillivray) Freeman, 93, a resident of Easton for the past 57 years, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Freeman Sr. Born in Framingham, December 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Rodick and Georgianna (Warren) MacGillivray, she was raised in Franklin and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. Mary began her working career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston as a check clearer. After, she took a position with the former Shawmut Bank in Brockton where she worked for many years. A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Easton, she was a longtime member of the Easton Council of Aging and Triad of Easton. Her hobbies included playing bingo and gardening. Mary is survived by her children, Frank R. Freeman Jr. and his wife Elaine of Easton, Mary M. Butts and her husband George of Greensboro, North Carolina, Eileen Hanson and her husband Woodrow of Easton and Michael J. Freeman of Easton; a sister, Therese Murphy of Worcester; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late William E. Freeman and Richard W. Freeman. The funeral was held from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte. 138), Easton, Friday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Maynard.
