CARTER Mildred H. Carter, age 96, of Bridgeport, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Lancashire Convalescent Home in Kilmarnock, VA. Mildred was the daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Jones. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Carter as well as her adopted daughter Wanda Carter. She is survived by her son James L. Carter (Charlene) of Mathews, VA. and granddaughters, sister-in-law, and several great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at Zion Baptist Church, Cardinal, and Virginia. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. immediately after the viewing.
