CARTER Mildred H. Carter, age 96, of Bridgeport, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Lancashire Convalescent Home in Kilmarnock, VA. Mildred was the daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Jones. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Carter as well as her adopted daughter Wanda Carter. She is survived by her son James L. Carter (Charlene) of Mathews, VA. and granddaughters, sister-in-law, and several great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at Zion Baptist Church, Cardinal, and Virginia. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. immediately after the viewing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Virginia, P.O. Box 2098, and 1328 Tappahannock Boulevard, Tappahannock, VA 22560. The family wishes to thank the Lancashire Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Virginia for the excellent care they gave Mildred during her stay there.
