OBITUARY DR. JEAN NADEAU April 25, 1917 - August 16, 2005 At the Hotel-Dieu Hospital in Montreal, on August 16, 2005, passed away, at the age of eighty-eight, Dr. Jean Nadeau, husband of Dr. Claude Beique, father of Nicole, Danielle (Dave McMillan) of Calgary, Pierre, Andre and preceded in death by his son Louis. He also leaves behind five grandchildren; Genevieve and Simon Pepin, Christopher, Matthew and Stirling McMillan, his sister Francoise Larose of Sherbrooke, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Sherbrooke, he served four years in the Canadian Dental Corps during the Second World War. Thereafter he dedicated himself to a thirty-eight year teaching career in Dentistry at the University of Montreal, where he was Director of the Prosthodontics Clinic for twenty-five years. He was also a member of the Fissures palatines Clinic of the Ste-Justine Hospital for twenty-five years. He was one of the pioneers in Maxillofacial prosthodontics in North America. Numerous conferences and ground breaking publication in such places as Chicago, Los Angeles, etc., proposing innovative interventions for the maxillofacial treatment and restoration earned him an international reputation in this field. He was a member of several scientific societies, being a Fellow of the Quebec Dental Academy, a Fellow of the Royal College of Canada and a member of the American of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Outside of his professional career, he was known for having a wide variety of interests. One of these was the study of languages such as Spanish and more recently Chinese (both spoken and calligraphy). He was also a Radio amateur for more than thirty years, being a member of the U.M.S. under call letters VE2 FSZ, then VA2 JN. The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at: Centre funeraire Cote-des-Neiges 4525 Cote-des-Neiges Road Montreal (QC) 514-342-8000 The funeral service will be held at the Chapel of the Notre-Dame Basilica (116 Notre-Dame West, 514-849-1070) on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 2 p.m.
