Funeral services for longtime Hearst area resident Gisèle Marie (née Bérubé) Michaud, 63, of Jogues were held Jan. 25, 2003. She died, Jan. 21, at Notre-Dame Hospital following a pair of strokes. Born April 9, 1939 in Cabano, Témiscouata, Quebec, she came to the Nassau Lake area west of Hearst from Montreal in 1965, and moved to Jogues several five years go. A cook at Notre-Dame Hospital, the former Petite Auberge restaurant, and at various logging camps — including the Poulin camp at Oba — she also worked for a half-dozen years at the Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home. A member of the Hearst Club Solo, she enjoyed bingo nights. Predeceased by her husband Gérald Michaud of Hearst in 1980 and sister-in-law Gisèle Bérubé of Cabano, she leaves her daughter Maryline (Serge) Lapierre of Terrebonne, Que., and sons Allen and Danny, both of Hearst, and Lucien (Jocelyne) Michaud of Timmins. Also surviving are her sisters Huguette (Claude) Godbout of Hearst and Françoise (Paul-Émile) Tardif of St-Louis, Que., brothers Gaston (Lili) of Montreal, and Jeannot and André (Manon) Bérubé, both of Cabano, granddaughters Judy and Khona, and grandson Jerry. Rev. René Grandmont directed the afternoon service at Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at the Monsignor Grenier Cemetery.
