Family-Placed Death NoticeBecky Freeman, 48, ceramic artist of Atlanta, died April 3rd at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long battle against liver cancer and polycistic kidney disease. Rebecca Grace Brooks was born in Atlanta on November 20, 1954, the daughter of Hubert and Kathryn Brooks, who live in Lakeland, FL and Charley Mountain, (Tiger), GA. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976 with a B.A. degree in French and a minor in horticulture. Becky married William H. Freeman, Jr. of Albemarle, NC in July 1976. She is survived by her husband, Bill, and children, Joshua L. Freeman, 21 and Katelin E. Freeman, 17, all of Atlanta. Becky was an artist, master gardener and outstanding cook. She was eager to share her knowledge with others. Accomplished in a variety of artistic mediums, she found commercial success as a potter. She also competed internationally in invitational ceramic competitions. She liked to get her hands dirty creating her art and discovered genuine pleasure in teaching others at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody and the Roswell Recreation Center in Roswell. In addition to her parents, survivors include, sisters, Anne B. Vincent, her husband, Richard and son Drew of Atlanta; and Karen B. Graves, her husband, Charles and children Alex and Malory of St. Paul, MN. The memorial celebration will be April 14, 2003, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Primrose Cottage, 674 Mimosa Blvd in Roswell, (770-594-2299). After a message from Rev. David Horton of Tallahassee, FL, a light buffett will be served. National Cremation Society made arrangements for the body.
