BENTON -- Cecile Louise Nadeau, 86, of Benton passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, with her family by her side at Oak Grove Center in Waterville, where she was affectionately know as Meme.She was born in Waterville on Sept. 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Adelbert and Delia (Gilbert) Roderigue. Cecile attended schools in Fairfield, including Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. On Nov. 17, 1951, she married her soulmate, Adelbert Nadeau, and the couple shared many wonderful years together until his passing on July 7, 1991.Her employment included working at various woolen mills in the area. Cecile was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.She also volunteered at the Sacred Heart soup kitchen for more than 15 years. Crocheting was very enjoyable to Cecile. She hand made handkerchiefs for her granddaughter's weddings as well as many other items for her family. She was also a very good cook, who was well known for her chicken supreme and tomato jam. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Donald Nadeau, who passed away in 2008; two sisters, and five brothers. Cecile will be sadly missed by her children, Mary McGinnis and her husband, Wesley, of Albion, and Norman Nadeau and his wife, Sharon, of East Benton; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Nadeau, of East Benton; her sister, Noella Fischer, of Pelham, N.H.; her grandchildren, Kellie Huard and her husband, Michael, and their son, Mackenzie, Kristie Adams and her husband, Clinton, and their sons, Mason and Max, Scott Higgins and his wife, Dawn, and their children, Anthony Breton and Frannie Higgins, Dawn Anne Higgins-Currie and her husband, Kirt, and their children, Kiera and Kody, Nick Nadeau and his wife, Devon, and their son, Colby, Natasha Nadeau and her companion, Mike Socoby, Nicole Savasuk, Zachary Savasuk, Randy Nadeau and his wife, Alyssa, Michael Nadeau, and Jenya Young and her husband, Andy, and their children.The family would like to specially thank the staff at Oak Grove Center for the love and compassion and wonderful care Cecile received during her time there. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
