Carol John Freeman, 89, of Springfield, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005, at 1:15 p.m. in Primrose Place. Carol retired as Lt. Colonel from the United States Army after 28 years of service, serving in both World War II and Korea. After retirement he was a longtime Postmaster in Brighton, Mo. Carol was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Mae and a daughter, Carol Lynne, both of Springfield. Memorial visitation will be today, November 23, 2005, from 7 to 8 p.m. in GormanScharpf Funeral Home. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National Avenue Christian Church or charity of donor's choice.
