ROCHESTER — Bertha B. Dubois, 93, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Hyder Family Hospice in Dover with her family by her side.Mrs. Dubois was born in Somersworth, N.H., on Oct. 2, 1916, the daughter of Alfred and Marie Anne (Doyon) Massé and had lived in Rochester since 1940. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a shiner at Weiss-Lawrence Shoe Mfg. in Dover. She was a member of the St. Anne Sodality at Holy rosary Church; she belonged to Good Old Sports and volunteered at Strafford County Homemakers. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Dubois, who died in 2000; brothers, Alfred Masse, Robert Masse, Gerard Masse and Roger Masse; sisters, Blanche McFarline, Cecile Smart, Simmone Masse; son-in-law, Ronald Hamel; granddaughter, Barbara Cooper and grandson, Richard Dubois.Surviving members of Maine; two daughters, Rachel Hamel of Venice, Fla., and Diane Vashey of Williamsburg, Va. She also leaves one brother, Martin Masse of Somersworth; two sisters, Rita Mercier and Helene Croteau of Somersworth, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12, at Holy Rosary Church.
