Alfred Nadeau, spouse of Irene Contessa, son of Cleopheus and Cecile, father of Christopher John, Linda and Brian Jeffery, died at 80 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
FITCHBURG -- Alfred G. Nadeau, 80, of 39 Smith St., died Friday evening, Nov. 18, in his home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilton, N.H., the son of the late Cleopheus and Cecile Nadeau. Mr. Nadeau served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in France including D Day and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He worked for the Massachusetts Correctional Facility for many years in Concord and retired from that facility with honors for a job well done. He also worked for the Department of Transportation (Laidlaw) in Fitchburg retiring again last year. Mr. Nadeau enjoyed bowling and playing chess and at one time was a member of the Eastwood Club and the American Veteran’s Association. He leaves his wife of 35 years, Irene (Contessa) Nadeau; his son, Christopher John Nadeau of Worcester; his daughter, Linda Wiinikainen and her husband Tom of Gardner. He was predeceased by his son, Brian Jeffery Nadeau. He was also predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters. NADEAU -- On Nov. 18, Alfred G. Nadeau, 80, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, with a Mass at noon in St. Bernard’s Church, 240 Water St., Fitchburg. Calling hours will precede the Mass Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
