THOMAS, Linda Louise Malcolm "Gami," 70, of Tampa, took the hand of God July 30, 2008, and entered into eternal life. An incredibly spiritual, kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Martha Malcolm; sister, Martha Malcolm; brother, TL Malcolm; and nephew, Robert Maness. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Lowry (Michael) of North Redington Beach, Fla., Melanie Sierra (Ric) of Valrico, Fla., and Marsha Thomas; and granddaughter, Gabrielle Thomas of Tampa, with whom she shared her home and a special bond that went beyond mother and daughter and granddaughter; one son, Drake Thomas (Kristin) of Tampa; sister, Mary Maness (Dick) of Kennesaw, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew. Linda was a homemaker for most of her life until she began working at The Tampa Tribune in 1980. She retired in 1993, when she began her greatest and most rewarding challenge, caring for her elderly parents. She loved writing poetry and words of encouragement, watching cooking shows, her daily trip to Chick-fil-a and her dialysis family at Davita. She possessed a silent and inner strength based on her deep and unwavering faith that kept her family strong. She was a fixture at Peace of Mind, a business grown by Drake, whom she proudly referred to as her "entrepreneur son." She felt blessed to have been so involved in Megan' s life and the close relationship they shared. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery, Tampa. The family will receive friends 9 a.m. until the time of the service, Monday, August 4, 2008, at the funeral home.
