SHREWSBURY— Eleanor E. (Johnson) Berube, 90, formerly of Holden, died Thursday, October 27, 2005, in Knollwood Nursing Home. Her husband of 38 years, Eli A. Berube, died in 1970. She leaves 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. and Ann Marie Berube of Northboro, and John R. and Susan Berube of Bangor, Maine; a brother, Harold Johnson of Worcester; and 3 granddaughters, Donna M., wife of William Hayden, of Boylston, Debra A. Berube of Shrewsbury, and Sharon M. Berube of Northboro; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Lena (Strom) Johnson. Eleanor was a nurse's aide at the former Worcester County Hospital and a member of Salem Covenant Church and Order of Eastern Star. Eleanor loved spending time with her family and friends. She was proud of her faith and of her great-grandchildren. She also loved the outdoors, traveling, adventure, and good food. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 31, at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. After cremation, burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heifer Project International, 216 Wachussett St., Rutland MA 01543.
