Mitchell, Carol M. LOUDONVILLE Carol M. Mitchell, 49, died peacefully Friday, June 20, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany, N.Y. after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by many caring family members and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Joseph D. Mitchell and their three children, Cara Nolan, Michael Joseph and Emily Faith; daughter of Mary Faith Turner of Loudonville, N.Y. and the late Honorable John G. Turner Jr.; her four sisters: Catherine Dascher (Norman, Kristin and Kelly) of Loudonville, N.Y.; Karen Turner Tyrrell (Timothy, Timothy, Jr. and Brendan) of Albany, N.Y.; Faith Turner Chrisom (Sean, Caroline and Conor) of Holliston, Mass.; Mary Ellen Liguori (John, Mary Faith and Jake) of Albany, N.Y.; brother, John G. Turner III (Beth, Joshua, Julia and Ali Faith) of Potsdam, N.Y.; uncle and aunt Tom and Sue Forrest; brother-in-law Michael Mitchell (Kathy, Krystal, Karly and Eric) of Portsmith, R.I.; late brother-in-law Mark Mitchell (Maryanne, Kelly, Ryan and Megan) of Wyckoff, N.J. and dear friends Barbara Ferraro (Steve, Nicole and Brian) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Carol attended Holy Cross Grade School, the Academy of the Holy Names, Lemoyne College and Albany Law School. She was a capable attorney and worked for Maynard, O'Connor and Smith and the State of New York, before choosing to be a full time mother to her three children. She was a devoted member of St. Pius Church. More than anything, Carol will be remembered for her deep faith in God, her special devotion to the Blessed Mother, as well as her devotion to her husband, children and family. She had a contagious smile, a great sense of humor and many deep and loyal friendships. She was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Carol and her family would like to thank the Community Hospice staff; the nurses at Albany Memorial Hospital and St. Peter's Hospital; Dr. Nancy Kemeny and the staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering; Dr. Larry Garbo and all the many nurses and "chemo friends" at NYOH who stood by her side throughout the journey. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at the Church of St. Pius X in Loudonville on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. Calling hours will held on Monday at the church from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Academy of the Holy Names, 1075 New Scotland Road, Albany, NY 12208-1037.
