HALL, Willie Mae "Billie," 83, of Brandon, passed away March 25, 2008. Billie, a longtime resident of Brandon, Fla., was born February 9, 1925 to William Starnes and Birtha Burleson Starnes in Wadesboro, N.C. Billie had three sisters and three brothers and was extremely close to her family. She married Joe DeLuca in and lived in Germany for a few years while he was stationed there. She was able to do extensive travel across Europe and host lavish parties and formal dinners with celebrities such as Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra when they would visit the officer' s club of which her husband was the manager. She had the position of secretary manager in Europe and then, when moving to Alaska, became a store manager for Sears. She divorced, and in 1972 married Gene Hall, a lieutenant colonel stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. She later became his legal aid and helped raise his three young children, Gena, Roger and Wayne. In 1985, she adopted Evelyn Hall, retired and devoted the rest of her life to raising her only child. Anyone who ever met Billie fell in love with her smile, intelligence and honesty. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her daughter, Evelyn, providing for her the best life had to offer and watching her graduate from the University of South Florida last fall. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Hall; brother, Louis "Pete" Carter of Jacksonville; sister, Betty Johnson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, FL 33511. The family will accept visitors one hour before service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated towards a memorial fund for Billie' s three favorite longtime charities, as well as LifePath Hospice, to be divided equally. Please send contributions to Evelyn Hall, 7028 W. Waters Ave. #202, Tampa, FL 33634.
