WILLIE GENE JACKSON1927 - 2008Willie Gene Jackson, 81, of Pensacola passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008.Mr. Jackson was born in Geneva, AL in 1927 and had been a resident of Pensacola since August 1967. He retired from Civil Service at the Naval Air Rework Facility, NAS Pensacola. Mr. Jackson was an active member and Deacon Emeritus at Westwood Christian Church and a founding member of the church "Yard Dogs," a group of retired men meeting weekly to maintain the church property. One of his favorite pastimes was participating in senior softball which he played for many years. He especially enjoyed going to the Tournaments. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kadashan Bay, CVE 76 and also served in the US Army with the 151st Combat Engineer Battalion during the Korean Conflict.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Georgann; daughter, Brenda Gail Berry, grandson, Christopher Berry of St. Paul, MN; granddaughter, Melissa Berry; son, Glen Jackson (wife Kathy) of Fairfax, VA.Funeral services will be at 3 PM Monday, June 9, 2008 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 7433 Pine Forest Road Pensacola FL 32526. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 PM till the time of services.Burial will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
