William P. Taggart, 67, of Woodbury, NJ formerly of Glassboro, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, surrounded by his wife and children. Born and raised in Glassboro, he graduated from Glassboro High School in 1964, where he excelled in football, wrestling and track. In 2012, he was inducted into the Glassboro High School Sports Hall of Fame for those three sports. After high school, Bill attended Glassboro State College and then served with the United States Army from 1966 until 1968. A Master Carpenter by trade, he owned his own business for several years and built many custom homes throughout South Jersey as well as Hilton Head Island, SC. He retired from the Home Depot in 2010. Bill also was an umpire for high school baseball and softball, as well as various leagues in the South Jersey area for many years. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Ella Taggart, and his brother, Edward, Bill is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Doyle); his 3 children, Brandi Taggart Beckett (Barry) of Gibbstown, Elizabeth DiRienzo (Patrick) of Mullica Hill, and Dennis (Jennifer) of Mantua; 3 granddaughters, Ashley, Gabriella, and Mia; 2 brothers, Robert of Hawaii and Paul (Terri) of Florida. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 11:00 AM in the MATHIS FUNERAL HOME, 43 N. Delsea Drive, Glassboro, NJ, where friends may call and visit with the family Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM and after 10:00 AM on Monday. Burial will be in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 S. Tuckahoe Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ.
