JOHNSON--Dr. Warren David, 56, died suddenly at his home on September 5th in New York City. After completing his Ph.D. at Columbia University, Warren joined the Dalton School where he taught for the past 19 years and where he served several consecutive terms as Department Chair of High School English. Warren was also President of the Faculty Association. Proud parishioner of Saint Thomas Church, Warren was actively involved in many aspects of church life, most recently as Head Acolyte. Predeceased by his father Mervin Johnson; survived by his mother Winnifred Johnson; his sisters Mary Jackson and Ellen Johnson; Mary's husband Jim and Ellen's partner, Leslie Strickler; his niece Laura and his nephews Phil and Sean. Warren will be deeply missed by his many students, colleagues and wonderful friends whose lives he touched during the 30 years that he lived in New York City. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 1:30pm at Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue at 53rd St., New York. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made in Warren's memory to The Dalton School, 108 E. 89th St., New York, NY 10128. A Memorial service will be held at the school on a future date.
