SMITH, VERNE LARRY, age 85, retired executive of the building firm, Charlebois & Smith, died at his Greenville, Michigan home on March 5, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife Simone Charlebois Smith; brothers, Howard, Rae and Glen Smith; and sisters Ina Groves and Lillian Bossardet. He is survived by wife Ruth Alsgaard Smith; daughter, Vernell (Pixie) and Stephen Stevens; son Glen Lee and Barbara Smith; brother Bud Smith; sister Reah Tatro; his grandchildren, Connie (Todd) Ankli, Kimberly (Tim) Martin, Keith (Erin) Smith, Brigitte (Ted) Lyle and Steve Reamer. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Lauren and Emily Ankli, Nicholas and Catherine Martin, Ethan Smith, Tori and Theodore Lyle and Andrew, Thomas, Nicholas and Stephanie Reamer; stepchildren, Larry and Gary Alsgaard and families. Visitation was held on Monday from 1-4 and 6-8PM at Hurst Funeral Home, 1801 W. Washington Street, Greenville MI 48838. Rosary was at 7PM on Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday March 9, 2004 at 10AM from St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI. Memorial tributes may be given to the church food pantry of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, MI or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
