JEFFERSONVILLE KING, SUSIE E. "SUE," 99, passed away at her home in Jeffersonville early Monday morning, August 28, 2006. She was born November 5, 1906 to Charles and Belle Hughes. She was married to Lester Bennett who died in 1935. She then remarried Herbert King who died in 1996. Mrs. King, formerly of Clarksville, was a native of English, IN, until she moved to New Albany in 1937. The same year she became a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in New Albany. She was a restaurant manager and cook until retirement in 1974. She loved the Lord and people. She was always happy and smiling; what a wonderful joy she has been all these years. Preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Sue Gibson in 2005; four brothers, Harlan, Earl, Lavern and Curran Hughes; and one sister, Dovie Hollen. Survivors include her son, Gene Bennet (Vicki) of Louisville; daughter, Norma Hess (Carroll) of Jeffersonville, IN; son-in-law, Pete Gibson of Jeffersonville, IN; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home (1119 E. Market St., New Albany, IN). Burial will be in SCI-Kraft Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Market Street Chapel. Expressions of sympathy to her church.
