Sue Dela Hanvey Hopkins Smith, 87, of 213 Louisiana St., wife of Dillard Smith, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Hartwell, Ga., she was one of 13 children born to Rev. John and Rev. Nettie King Hanvey. She was retired from Chiquola Mfg. Co. and was a member of the Honea Path Church of God, where she was past president of the Young at Heart's. She was twice married, first to the late J.D. Hopkins.Surviving are her husband of the home; a son, James Roy Hopkins of Anderson; two daughters, Audrey H. Greenway of Honea Path and Geraldine H. Gambrell of Honea Path; a brother, Curtis Hanvey of Knoxville, Tenn.; four sisters, Edith Vest of Cleveland, Tenn., Velma Spearman of Laurens, Mildred Smith of Laurens, and Eva Mae Roach of Easley; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and J.T. Hanvey; by five sisters, Ruth Guice, Gaynell Ball, Grace Burke, Addie Louise Lothridge, and Earlene Patterson; and by a grandson, Charles Tony Ashley.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Honea Path Church of God, with Rev. George Cooper and Rev. Charlie Driggers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Honea Path Church of God, P.O. Box 186, Honea Path, SC 29654. The family is at the home.
