Sister Mary Paul, OP of Newburgh, New York, died Thursday, December 11, 2003. She was 75 years old. Born Patricia Debbie on July 9, 1928, in Saint Albans, New York, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Debbie and Agnes O'Reilly Debbie. Sister Mary Paul entered the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in Ossining, New York on September 8, 1948, pro fessed first vows on March 31, 1950, and final vows on March 31, 1953. Sister Mary Paul earned her RN from Misericordia Hos pital, New York, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from State University of New York at Stony Brook. From 1948 to 1983, Sister Mary Paul did home nursing for the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in the following cities: Bronx, New York (1948-49); Ossining, New York (1949-52 and 1965-67); Denver, Colo rado (1955-64); Dayton, Ohio (1964-65); and Hampton Bays, New York (1967-83). Additional ministries include work in a soup kitchen and home visits, Newburgh, New York (1983-85); pastoral care at Our Lady of Mercy Hos pital in the Bronx (1987-89); and volunteer ministry at Sky View Nursing Home in Cro ton, New York (1994). She re tired from active ministry in 1994 and moved to the New burgh Center of Hope in 1999. She was a person who loved the poor, was calm, helpful and kind. Sister Mary Paul is survived by two brothers: John Debbie of Saranac Lake, New York; and William Debbie of Hick sville, New York. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 14 from 2 pm on in the Chapel of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Newburgh. Wake Service at 4:30 pm. Wake continues December 15 until 10:30 am. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 15 at 10:45 am in the Chapel of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, Newburgh.
