Obituary of Sarah-Herndon White


Mrs. Sarah Herndon White - Baxley -Mrs. Sarah Herndon White, 92, died Monday, September 11, 2006. The native and lifelong resident of Appling Co. was born November 3, 1913 to the late Carl and Adna Smith Herndon. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a former owner of Dairy Queen of Baxley and the Former owner of Sarah's Flower and Gift Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osborne Monroe White; her sons, Roger, Alfred and Burton White; her sisters, Gladys Knight and Montene Morris; her brother, H. C. Herndon and grandchildren, Darrell White and Kayla White. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Amogene and Bill Mathews of Baxley; three sisters, Marilyn Vance of Baxley, Bonnie Pickren of Warner Robins and Coalene Tippins of Arlington, VA. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Wednesday at Swain Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2006 in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Interment: Omega Cemetery. Swain Funeral Home, Inc.
