DENNIS Samuel E. (Sam) Dennis, 92, Lake Park, GA, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, died on Monday, January 19, 2009 at Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta, GA. Mr. Dennis was retired from Zurich-American Insurance Company as a commissioned Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspector. While in Jacksonville, he actively participated in the restoration and preservation of the Springfield area in the mid 1980's. Mr. Dennis was a former member of Main Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Clara Moody Dennis of Lake Park; six sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence E. (Larry) Dennis. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009 in the chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park, GA with Minister Larry J. Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Lake Park.
