Obituary of Ruth-Sinks Smith


SMITH, Ruth Sinks, a former resident of Tampa,passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006, following a battle with lung cancer, Her beloved husband, Albert P. Smith, also a former resident of Tampa, preceded Mrs. Smith in death. Mrs. Smith was born in Tampa January 6, 1925, to the late Robert Sinks and Mary Jane S. Silber. She was the niece of the late Paul and Mabel Jacobs of Tampa. Mrs. Smith retired in 1985 following a career as a junior high school teacher and legal assistant. She volunteered her time generously over the years to many organizations, the last being Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainseville, Fla. as a member of the auxiliary. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Lyn and Rob Cole of Hiawasse, Ga., Circuit Court Judge Amy L. Smith and Patrick Dodgin of Jupiter, Fla.; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister and two brothers, including Jimmy SInks of Bradenton. Also, beloved lifelong friend Suzanne Mase of Tampa. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was truly an extraordinary and kind person who touched many lives. Her family joins Mrs. Smith's request that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy and condolences be made by donations to Regency Hospice of North Georgia, PO Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
