JOHNSON, Ruth Marie "Rudi," 85, of Seffner, Fla., died peacefully in hospicecare January 13, 2011. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Joe Cothron of Seffner, and Terri and Bill Wright of Columbia, Md.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Swartz of Loveland, Colo. She is also survived by her five grand-children, Will Rees of Mountain View, Calif.; Dr. Chris Buttram of Winona, Minn., Jennifer Sicilio of Seffner, Scott Prieto of Plant City, Fla., and Jarrod Cothron of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three great-grand-children, Lianne Sicilio of Seffner, Bridget Rees and Maddie Rees of Mountain View, Calif.; two nieces, Sonia Swartz of Fruita, Colo., and Alisa Hata of Seattle, Wash.: and a loving dog, Molly. Born in Grand Junction, Colo., Rudi was an avid skier and mountain climber in the Rockies. She moved to Florida in 1961 and after retiring in 1979, she pursued interests in paleontology and minerals. She was past president of the Tampa Bay Mineral & Science Club, as well as one of the founders and first president of the Tampa Bay Fossil Club. In 1993, Rudi was awarded lifetime membership recognizing her leadership and dedicated service. Memorial service will be private.
