Ruth M. Smith Ruth M. Smith, 86, of Highlandville, Mo., passed away Saturday, November 4, at St. John's Regional Hospital. Ruth was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1919. She was united in marriage to Al Smith on January 20, 1939, in Riverside, Colorado. They have two children; a son, Bob Smith of Highlandville, Mo., and a daughter, Diane Rooney of Spokane, Mo. Ruth was a very dear and kind lady, she was a friend to everyone. She loved flowers in her yard and feeding the birds. Most of her years she was a homemaker. She worked at Highlandville and Spokane schools for about five years, helping in the office and doing custodial work with her husband. Ruth attended and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ponce De Leon. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Battini; her father, William Battini; and a grandson, James Rooney of Spokane, Mo. She is survived by her husband, Al Smith; her son, Bob Smith; her daughter, Diane Rooney; a daughter-in-law, Charis Smith; three grandchildren, Mitch Smith and his wife, Teresa, Kerie Bice and her husband, Bill, and Kim Howard; seven great-grandchildren, Robert Howard, Johnny Howard, Derek Mullen, Valerie Dyer, Wesley Smith, Courtney Counts and Emily Counts; four great-great-grandchildren, Dillion Keller, Kaleb Howard, Kaylie Howard and Tanner Howard. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804. Visitation will be held today, November 7, 2006, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte. Online personal condolences may be made at www.klingner-cope.com.
