Paige, Ruth K. DELMAR Ruth K. Paige, 83, died on August 6, 2008 at Community Hospice with her loving family by her side. Ruth is the daughter of the late James and Harriet Abriel Killough. She spent her childhood in Delmar, playing in the many wooded lots in "Old Delmar" near Rowland Ave. She attended Bethlehem Central High School (43), where she excelled in many sports. She married her high school sweetheart, BC graduate Dr. Harry Paige (41) in 1946. (Harry died suddenly in 2003). She attended Cortland State University, majoring in physical education, graduating in 1947. Ruth and Harry moved to Potsdam, N.Y. in 1953. She received her master's degree from St. Lawrence University in 1961 and taught physical education for many years in northern N.Y., first traveling to the one-room country school houses in the late 1950s. Later, she taught at St. Lawrence Central in Brasher Falls, N.Y. Ruth will be remembered for her industry, loyalty, generosity, and adventurous spirit. Her great love was spending the summers at the old family farmhouse on the Conklingville Road on Sacandaga and the family get-togethers on Christmas Eve. Ruth's family thanks these people at St. Peter's for their many kindnesses; the 5th floor (cardiac) nursing staff, Julie and Elizabeth in Palliative Care, Dr. Ferrari and the nurses at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Ruth leaves behind her family, daughters, Judith McKinnon of Queensbury and Sandra Sorell and her husband Neal of Delmar; granddaughter, Paige Woodruff (Mark) and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, and Zachary. Also survived by several nieces and nephews; and her very special great-aunt, Midge McCann. She was predeceased by good friend, Ernestine Cordry. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Elsmere and Kenwood Avenues, Delmar, to which family and friends are invited.
