->JOHNSON, Ruth A.Mrs. Ruth A. (Besley) Johnson, formerly of Pine City, NY and most recently of Ilion, NY, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born in Elmira on July 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Stephen and Augusta (Slocum) Besley. She was raised and educated in Elmira. She was a devoted wife to David J. Johnson for 36 years until his passing. Ruth prided herself on raising and enjoying her family. She was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her son, Stephen Strope; daughters Sharon Cummings and Joan DiMaggio; grandchildren Kristen, Heather, Joshua, Ann, John, Stephen, Thomas, Stephanie; and 12 great grandchildren. Her Memorial Service will be held at the Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. at 2 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 30. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church.
