Rosa Belle Balkcum Gardner, 98, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Springs Memorial Hospital.She was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Fayetteville, N.C., a daughter of the late King Solomon Baulkcum and Lettie Belle Mason Balkcum. Mrs. Gardner was the widow of Virgil Boyd Gardner.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to read her Bible, sing songs, work with her flowers and cook. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and had been a Sunday school teacher.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gardner is 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Birchfield officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.Mrs. Gardner is survived by two sons, Charles Edward Gardner and his wife, Geneva, of Lancaster, and Douglas L. Gardner and his wife, Judy, of Myrtle Beach; a brother, King Solomon "K.S." Balkcum of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Tara Sinclair, Kevin L.
