Obituary of Roger-L. Williams


LUNENBURG - Roger L. Williams, 60, a former Shirley building inspector, Groton-Dunstable teacher and member of the Pepperell Housing Authority, died Saturday, Oct. 12, at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a short illness. He was the husband of Laura (Caron) Williams.He was born in Pepperell on Nov. 25, 1941, a son of the late Roger L. and Ruth (Lorden) Williams. He graduated from Pepperell High School in 1959 and Springfield College in 1963.Mr. Williams was the building inspector for the towns of Lunenburg and Shirley for 18 years before he retired this March. Earlier, he taught school for the Groton-Dunstable and Tahanto Regional School districts.He was a member of the District 6 Building Inspectors Association, and served on the Pepperell Housing Authority. Mr. Williams was a former member of the St. Joseph's Parish in Pepperell. He had lived in Lunenburg since 1987.Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Michael Williams of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Mark Williams of Athol; three daughters, Nancy Meadows of Pepperell, Julie Windwood of Windham, N.H., and Jodi Sullivan of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, James Williams of Hollis, N.H.; a stepson, Jason Brailsford of Lunenburg; a stepdaughter, Tanya Eberlin of Leominster; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Linda (Holt) Williams of Pepperell.
