PUTNEY -- The United Church of Putney on Kimball Hill was filled Tuesday morning for the service of remembrance conducted for Robert Michael Bryant.Officiating was the Rev. Fred McLachlan, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Parish in Putney, and the Rev. Susan Tarolli, pastor of the United Church of Putney.Music for the service was under the direction of organist Sandra Holt, who offered prelude hymns “Ave Verum,” “God Is My Shepherd,” “Fairest Lord Jesus” and “Surely the Presence of the Lord is in This Place.”Words of welcome were extended by Rev. Tarolli, who then gave the opening scripture reading.Rev. McLachlan offered opening remarks and spiritually prepared the congregation for the services.The congregation joined in singing the hymn, “How Great Thou Art.”The first reading from Lamentations 3:17-26 was read by James McDole, a brother-in-law. The responsorial psalm, Psalm 23, was read by Leslie McDole, a sister-in-law.Mr. Bryant's daughter, Kathleen Bryant, gave the second reading from Romans 6:3-9, followed by the gospel reading from Matthew 11:25-30 offered by Rev. Tarolli.The homily was given by Rev. McLachlan, followed by a special tribute and reflections given by Kathleen Bryant. She spoke of her father as a faithful and dedicated father, as a hard worker who took the time to be with his family and of his love for nature, the outdoors and walks in the woods.A special reading of the lyrics from “Wish You Were Here,” by Pink Floyd, one of Mr. Bryant's favorite songs, was read by Kathleen Bryant.Memories were also shared by Patricia Paduano, a sister, who reflected on growing up with her brother and his quiet and unassuming nature. Other memories were shared by Max Money, an uncle, Tom Money, a cousin, and several friends that included David Babbitt and Romona Lawrence.Additional hymns sung by the congregation included, “Here I Am, Lord” and “Amazing Grace.”The Lord's Prayer was led by Rev. McLachlan, followed by a special musical selection, “Peace is Flowing,” sung by Maurice and Margie Sabin.Rev. McLachlan gave the final commendation, which was followed by the benediction, given by Rev. Tarolli.Postlude hymns included “Blest Be the Tie That Binds” and “He Leadeth Me.”A reception followed at the Putney Community Center, hosted by friends of the family, coordinated by Judith Harlow.Serving as pallbearers were Toni Money, a cousin, Zack Borst, Matt Casabona, David Babbitt, Brian Coombes, Michael Stockwell, Skip Thurber and Timothy Harlow.Of the many attending both the calling hours at the funeral home, and the funeral services, were friends and neighbors from Putney and classmates of Mr. Bryant.Mr. Bryant, 45, of River Road South, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Okla.Arrangements were under the direction of the ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME.u
