PORTAL - Mr. Robert "Bobby Alec" Lee, age 65, died Thursday at his residence due to a farm-related accident. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County attended Portal schools and Sylvania schools, graduating during his military career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman in Germany during peace time. He was employed with J.P. Stevens Co., Cooper Wiss Co. and retired from Cooper Tools after 42 years of total service as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Lee was currently employed with the Bulloch County Board of Education as an electrician. He was a lifelong farmer and loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Lee was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a loving father to his children and Papa to his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Hazel A. Lee of Portal; one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Terry Lee of Portal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia A. Lee Arrieta and Mike of Portal and Bobbi Gwen Motes and Richard of Portal; five grandchildren, Jason Lee Corbin, Easton Tracy Lee, Cassie Alex Elaine Corbin, Brandon Richard Motes and Briar Thomas Lee, all of Portal; and a sister, Madlyn Lee Arnett of Sylvania. Many nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Rogers, Steve Reeves, Jerry Morris, David Deal, Edward Hodges and D.J. Rud. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Bulloch County Board of Education's maintenance and grounds department. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund, 1529 Metts Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30461; or the American Cancer Society, 515 Denmark Street, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
