Funeral services for Robert Lee Henderson, 57, Surrey Park Drive, who died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at Halifax Health Medical Center of complications from lung cancer, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 1, at Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach, with the Rev. Vincent Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. The wake and words of remembrance will be today (Friday) from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church, followed by refreshments in the Cora Ford Fellowship Hall, and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the church. Mr. Henderson, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former truck driver for Coca-Cola, was a native of Daytona Beach. He was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church, where he served on the board of trustees, ushers (adult and youth), and hospitality committee. He received an associate's degree in accounting from Daytona Beach Community College. Mr. Henderson served at one time or another in every position of his homeowners' association board. He enjoyed people, fishing, cooking and having cookouts for family and friends. His mother, Carrie Henderson and his father, Sylvester Henderson, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Brenda; two daughters, Tamika Henderson, Port Orange, and Alicia Henderson, Jacksonville; biological mother, Mattie Thomas, Miami; sister, Nella Roberts (Andrew), Daytona Beach; niece, Teresa Johnson (Rufus), Daytona Beach; mother-in-law, Betty Williams; three brothers-in-law, Eugene Williams, Jr. (Sharon), DeLand, Lester Williams (Ann), and Donald Williams (Shirley), both of Daytona Beach; two godsons, Patrick Radcliff, Daytona Beach, and Jantson Williams, Daytona Beach; favorite great-niece, Tristen Johnson, Daytona Beach; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
