Richard “Rick” John Small 1926-2012 Surrounded by his family the death of Rick Small, husband of Evelynn (Gillespie) Small occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, September 24, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born on September 21, 1926 in Kitchener, ON to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Peacock) Small. During World War II, Rick served with the Royal Canadian Navy in the Atlantic. After the war, Rick worked the majority of his life with Sears, retiring as part of the management team. He was a member of the Goodwill Club and the Rothesay Senior’s Card Club. In his spare time, Rick enjoyed woodworking. Besides his wife of over 67 years, Rick is survived by a son, Douglas (Mary) of Hampton; daughter, Lora Skead (Jon) of Saint John; 5 grandchildren: Christopher (Pamela) and Jason Small and Jessica (Peter), Scott (Joanna) and Jonathan Skead; great-granddaughter, Susannah Skead and four nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, James and sisters: Jeanne and Katherine. Rick was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10 am.
