-> Statesboro - Pauline Anderson, 91, died July 6, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born August 1, 1913 in Register, Georgia; she was the daughter of the late Ben Levy and Medie Anderson. She was a member of the 1930 graduating class at Register High School. Miss Anderson received her associate's degree in 1933 and her bachelor's degree in 1942 from Georgia Southern University formerly known as South Georgia Teachers College. She was also a member of one of the first classes to be awarded a master's degree in education from that institution. She began her teaching career in Candler County at Central School, and she taught in the Duval County Schools, Jacksonville, Florida, as an elementary teacher for 36 years. Upon returning to Statesboro, Georgia, in 1970, she worked as an educational consultant with the Cooperative Educational Service Agency, a division of the Georgia Department of Education. For many years she was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an honor society of women educators. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Two sisters, Myrtie Lee and Lucy Moxley and four brothers, Cecil Anderson, Iverson Anderson, Oswald Anderson and B. H. Anderson preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Adeline Anderson of Register, GA. and 14 nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Polly". Visitation will be Friday from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Joiner- Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
