Obituary of Patrick-J. O-Keefe


Patrick J. O'Keefe, a 43-year resident of Mahopac, NY, died Friday, July 30, 2004. He was 69. He was born in The Bronx on September 22, 1934, the son of Patrick and Mary (Kostrna) O'Keefe. Patrick served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an electrician with Local 3 of the IBEW in New York City, retiring in 1999. Patrick was a past member of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Putnam County and of the Emerald Society. On July 16, 1955, he married Dorothy E. Miller at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights. In addition to his wife of Mahopac, he is survived by his sons: Patrick M. (Patty) and Richard (Patti) O'Keefe of Mahopac; his daughters: Suzi (Jimmy) McDonough and Lynne (Kenny) Schmitt of Mahopac; his brothers: James (Pam) of Mahopac; John (Robbin) of Hopewell Jct., NY and Joseph (the late Val) of Englishtown, NJ; his sisters: Ann (Paul) Barra of Hopewell Jct.; Maureen (Larry) Magley of Jefferson Valley, NY and Margaret (Tom) Givens of Rome, NY; his sisters-in-law, Pat Hoag of Mahopac and Barbara Murphy of Brant Lake, NY; 14 grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews, including George and Robbin Jones and Billy and Lori Hoag, who spent many hours with him during his illness. Visiting will be held today (Saturday) and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 am at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery in Amawalk, NY.
