Memorial service for Patrick Dennis Owen, who passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Halifax Hospital, Port Orange, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, with the Rev. Gweldon Johnson officiating. Mr. Owen was born in Belvidere, Ill., and moved to the Port Orange area in 1996 from Dixon, Ill. Mr. Owen started with Centel/Sprint in 1969 as a lineman and retired in 1995. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. He loved walking on the beach, bicycling, gardening, working on projects around the house and his family. Mr. Owen is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, and best friend, Rosemary; son, Andrew (fiancée, Trisha Aldrich), Port Orange; daughter, Michelle (Steve) Hortega, Ottawa, Ill.; brother, Robert (Deb), Rock Falls, Ill.; three sisters, Dolores Channell, Port Orange, Betty Dunn, Dixon, Ill., and Jeanette (Mike) Smith, Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren, Micah Patrick and Gabriella Rose. He was preceded in death by his father, Gibson Lavell Owen, and brother, Tom Owen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Volusia/Flagler, 555 W. Granada Blvd., STE A-1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.mem.com. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Port Orange.
