JACKSON, Nancy Claire (Wood), 71, of Phoenix, AZ, and Dunedin, FL, loving wife, mother, and friend of the vulnerable, died suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at John C. Lincoln Hospital (Deer Valley), Phoenix. She was "Nan" to many of those closest to her, and dedicated her life not only to husband and family for more than 50 years, but also to her Church and others in need wherever she might find them. A career Air Force wife, Girl Scout leader, church and hospital volunteer, Nan was also a staunch supporter of "Homeward Bound," a transitional housing program for homeless families with children. Nan was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 4, 1936, to Henry "Grady" Wood and Claire Galdoresi, graduated from Mt. DeSales Academy in Macon, GA in 1953, and joined the Class of 1957 at Mt. Saint Agnes College (now Loyola) in Baltimore, MD. She married on June 30, 1956, and moved from Alexandria, LA, in 1987, to split her time between Phoenix and Dunedin every year since. Service and Faith were her hallmarks; she is home now. Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Jackson; 1 son, Mark B. Jackson of Spotsylvania, VA; and 3 daughters, Julie C. Sibert of Lexington, MA, Carol J. Norton of New Port Richey, FL, and Kay L. Zuyus of Orange City, FL, plus 8 grandchildren and her brother, Henry Grady Wood of Douglasville, GA. A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection is planned at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 750 San Salvador Drive, Dunedin, FL 34698 for Nov. 16, at 12:30.
