Nancy Arlene Williams, 68, of New Smyrna Beach passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, surrounded by family. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with The Reverend Jerry Fincher, officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Settle-Wilder. Burial will be in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater. Born in 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Maurice and Peggy Coate, Nancy met her husband, Robert in Portland while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They were married February 18, 1961, and later moved to his hometown of New Smyrna Beach. A devoted wife and mother, she prided herself on taking care of her five girls, Deborah, Carolyn, Linda, Nancy Ann, and Pamela, and working for the Volusia County School System. Mrs. Williams was an active member of the Atlantic Coast Community Church. Nancy was very involved in church, bible study, and with her daughters and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She impacted everyone that met her with her kind smile and caring heart. Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert; daughters, Deborah Carey and her companion, Tom, Carolyn Wenzel and her husband, Robert, Linda Mason, Nancy Ann Brabham and her husband, Donnie, and Pamela Williams; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one very dear cousin, Cathleen Holmes.
