Mrs. Mary Joyce Miller, 57, of Ludowici died on Sunday, Jan. 20, in Glennville. She was a friend to the friendless. She loved people and went out of her way to help. Her primary occupation was as a paraprofessional with the Long County BoE. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Ludowici City Police. She was a member of New Hope AME Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Floyd Chapter 21. She was a volunteer with the cancer society. Even though Joyce had a long struggle with health issues, she was faithful. She is survived by her husband, Fred Miller; mother, Frances Daly; and sisters, Coretha Carter of Ludowici and Leatrice Bell of Jacksonville. Funeral services will be at the Long County High School gymnasium at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Her body will be placed in the gym at 10 a.m. for visitation. The Rev. Willie Frank Davis will officiate. Eastern Star rites will be administered. Interment will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Ludowici. Dorchester Funeral Home of Midway has charge of the arrangements.
