STATESBORO - Mrs. Christine Eason Byrd passed away peacefully at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Facility surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. She was a native of Screven County and a member of Miller Grove Baptist Church. She was a retired house parent for Pineland Mental Health. She is survived by three daughters, Rose Ann Eason Mercer, Dawn (Timothy) Prince-Carter and Alvia Prince; one sister, Brenda (J.C.) Paulk; two brothers, McArthur (Gloria) Eason and Johnnie (Annette) Eason, all of Statesboro; several stepchildren, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Byrd will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Miller Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Tremble, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. C. Frank Cobb, presiding. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:15-8:15 p.m. at the funeral home. James R. Barnes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
